The Largest area of growth in his local congregation has come in the area of mariner groups like local Coast Guardsmen and boat clubs on the local area lakes. The state of Georgia is a state that has an eastern coast on the Atlantic Ocean and host many large lakes. This seem to just open up new doors for my ministry and outreach, said Chaplain Lanter. God is truly blessing this work with new souls excepting Jesus as their personal savior. In just one service I had five to come to the Lord. As a Mariner Chaplain I seek to spend time on ships and work local area marinas. He offers his services as a Chaplain and friend with these families. It is a unique way of life that most are not familiar with and are not able to understand.
Where did Mariner Ministries begin? The very first place this is noted is found is in the book of Matthew.
Matthew 4:18-22 18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. 21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
He called for men of the sea, Mariners! Jesus began this tradition of teaching from a ship -
Matthew 13:1-3 1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3 And he spake many things unto them .
Mariners learn to trust in God .Psalms 107:23-30 23 They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; 24 These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep. 25 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. 26 They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. 27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end. 28 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. 29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. 30 Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
As a Mariner Chaplain we hope to fulfill our commission of GO YE THEREFORE, AND TEACH ALL NATIONS . Three fourths of the world is covered in water and we will be at sea or on shore ministering.
Chaplain Lanter holds first Mariner service in the state of Georgia.
